Beschreibung: | 5569789 (9053) Little SYLVIA STONE clutched her big teddy beear when she was rescued by boat with her mother from their Maurice road, Canvey Island, home, during the flood waters in the East Coast of England in 1953. In the early hours of the morning of February 1, 1953, strong winds and a swelling tide pushed the sea to dangerous levels. Flood defences were breached by huge waves and coastal towns in Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Kent were devastated as sea water rushed into the streets.
